ABOUT

The Hancock House is a project to renovate a house in Detroit and establish it as an artist-led studio space and residence; a place to rest, create, garden, cook, and honor your art practice.

The project is led by Erin Wakeland, a multidisciplinary artist and Julian Hansen, a carpenter. Wakeland recieved The Big Idea Award in 2020, which was the catalyst for the project.

While the renovation is goal-oriented, we have found so much meaning in the construction process. Stay tuned for the continued unraveling of this project, via instagram and our newsletter.
